Irish Director Neasa Ní Chianáin Named as One of 100 Most Inspiring Irish Women

The Donegal documentary director, Neasa Ní Chianáin has been named in the February edition of Image magazine as one of the 100 Most Inspiring Irish Women.  Listed alongside some of the most high profile women in the arts, business and society in Ireland, including Mary Robinson, Garry Hynes, Cecelia Ahern, Justice Catherine McGuinness, Marian Finucane and others, Neasa featured in the Image article as one of 100 women "who continually push to make great things happen".

Image magazine commented that "We salute Neasa Ní Chianáin for having the courage to broadcast and be damned.  Her documentary Fairytale of Kathmandu, about Irish poet Cathal O Searcaigh, set out to be an homage to the man and his work in Nepal. But during the shooting, the filmmaker found that O Searcaigh was having sex with boys as young as 16.  She could have edited out the controversial material; instead she produced a complex portrait of the gay poet.  We're looking forward to her next work."
