Irish Acting Talent Confirmed for New Hollywood Film

Variety have reported this week that Irish actors Brendan Gleeson (The Guard, Harry Potter, In Bruges) and Liam Cunningham (Perrier's Bounty, The Guard) have both been confirmed for the line-up of new U.S film SAFE HOUSE, alongside Hollywood stars Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds.

SAFE HOUSE tells the story of when a group of villains destroy a CIA-operated safe house; the facility's young house-sitter must work to move the criminal who's being hidden there to another secure location.

Written by David Guggenheim, the film will be directed by Daniel Espinosa (Easy Money), and produced by Scott Stuber for Stuber Productions with Marc D. Evans, Trevor Macy and Adam Merims as Executive Producers.

Shooting for SAFE HOUSE is set to get underway later this month with a release date scheduled for February 2012.  Universal Pictures acquired the rights to the film after the script was rated on the 2010 list of the top unproduced screenplays.  The film will also star Tim McGraw, Robert Patrick and Sam Shepherd.

This is not the first time Gleeson and Cunningham have worked together, having both recently starred in Irish comedy-thriller The Guard, which set the Sundance Film Festival alight last month with Sony Picture Classics picking up the rights to the film in the U.S.  Directed by John Michael McDonagh, the film also boasts the acting talent of Don Cheadle (Iron Man 2, Crash, Hotel Rwanda), Fionnuala Flanagan (Lost, Transamerica), and Mark Strong (Kick Ass, Sherlock Holmes) and will be screening at the Berlinale this week.
