Irish Teen Film 'Aisling's Summer Diary' Scoops Award in New York

"Aisling's Diary", the TV Series created by Dublin-based CR Entertainment scored a Prestigious win at the Kidscreen Awards in New York last night with the TV movie "Aisling's Summer Diary" which won the best international Teen TV Movie.

The event was held at the Hilton Hotel in New York and puts the industry's best work on high-profile display during the Kidscreen Summit.   KidScreen is the biggest north-American market for pre-school and Kids TV Programming.

The movie, originally broadcasted on RTÉ in January 2010, tells the Adventures of Aisling and her friends during the Summer Holidays.

This win follows the Award that "Aisling's Diary - The TV Series" got in 2010 at the same Competition and the two previous IFTA nominations in 2009 and 2010 and C21 best Format nomination at Cannes.

Aisling's Diary was original broadcasted in September 2008 on RTÉ and then extended With a Aisling's Diary Holiday Special and a second season broadcasted in the fall of 2009. Early in 2010 RTE broadcasted two TV Movies based on the hit series: Aisling's Diary and Aisling's Summer Diary. The series was complemented by "Aislings Diary - The Book" Published by Penguin Books. Internationally Aisling's Diary has been sold by CR Entertainment to ABC Australia and SVT in Sweden.

Speaking at CR Entertainments office in Dublin, Series Producer Triona Campbell said: "Aisling's Diary has become Ireland's most successful Irish teen TV Series recognized by the industry Internationally, collecting an impressive list of international nominations and Awards.  The series has also been broadcasted in Australia and Sweden and it proves that Irish television content, can cross borders and that there is not just a local but an international audience for these types of programs.

The series is a sum of the incredible talent we have in Ireland and it wouldn't have happened without the support of RTÉ Young Peoples and Shelia de Courcy. 

The award really proves that Ireland can and is producing world class Kids TV programming and that's something we plan on doing more of in 2011."
