Don't Miss Irish Horror 'Wake Wood' Screening Tonight at JDIFF
Catch David Keating's new horror WAKE WOOD, which is screening tonight at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival in Cineworld at 9:00pm.
Starring BAFTA nominee Aidan Gillen (The Wire, Love/Hate), Eva Birthistle (The Daisy Chain, Breakfast on Pluto) and Timothy Spall (The King's Speech, Harry Potter), the film is set for cinematic release in Ireland and the UK next month from the 25th March.
It has been already receiving glowing reviews ahead of the screening; here is what some of the critics have been saying:
"for sheer nerve-racking intensity, Wake Wood is right up there with cult classic The Wicker Man" Bizarre magazine
"It's a really good horror film. Something quite different from what's out there at the moment." Little White Lies
"Aidan Gillen was his usual brilliant self...I think there will be a good teen/young 20s female audience for this film. Those who liked the Twilight saga will surely enjoy this" Reveal
"Reminded me of some of the things I grew up on... but was still very much its own thing and quite unlike anything else I've seen recently..." Big Issue
David Keating, Aidan Gillen and Eva Birthistle will all be attending the screening tonight in Cineworld. Click here to get tickets.
ABOUT WAKE WOOD
The villagers of Wake Wood perform an ancient ritual to bring the dead back to life for three days, in order to say farewell before their journey to the spirit world. A young couple whose daughter Alice was brutally killed by a raving mad dog, beg the villagers to bring their daughter back but find themselves unable to lose her for a second time. Their attempts to keep her alive mean they must pay a terrible price. Written by Brendan McCarthy and David Keating, the film was produced by Brendan McCarthy and John McDonnell for Fantastic Films in co-production with Magnus Paulsson of Solid Entertainment, Sweden. It received finance from the BSÉ/IFB and Hammer Films, making it the first feature from the legendary genre production company Hammer Films in thirty years, alongside Let Me In (2010).
