Blinder Films See A Host of Festival Selections for ‘One Hundred Mornings’ and ‘Sensation’

Conor Horgan's apocalyptic ONE HUNDRED MORNINGS and Tom Hall's smart and sexy SENSATION are proving extremely popular on an international level with numerous festival screenings lined up in the coming weeks.   Both of these features were produced by Irish production company Blinder Films.

Prior to its cinematic release on home soil from the 6th May, ONE HUNDRED MORNINGS will have a limited week-long run from March 25th at the Rerun Theatre, Brooklyn, in New York.  This follows on from successful screenings at the Britspotting Festival in Berlin in January and at the Glasgow Film Festival last month.  It has been invited to screen at four different festivals throughout April kicking off at the Titanic Festival in Budapest, followed by screenings at the Off Plus Camera Festival in Krakow, the Films From The Isles Festival in Luxembourg and the London Sci-Fi Film Festival.   It has also been officially selected for the Fantaspoa Film Festival in Brazil in July.

The IFTA-winning film, which premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival last year, stars Ciaran McMenamin (The Last Confession of Alexander Pearce, Primeval), Alex Reid (The Descent, Guinea Pigs) Rory Keenan (Intermission, Zonad), Kelly Campbell (Bachelors Walk, Sensation).

SENSATION, a darkly comedic story of prostitution, money, love and sensation has been selected to screen at the Vilnius International Film Festival in Lithuania this week.  Starring Domhnall Gleeson (When Harvey Met Bob, True Grit), the critically-acclaimed film had its international premiere at the world renowned Toronto Film Festival last year as well as screenings in Rotterdam and London.  It will now be screening alongside other titles such as 127 Hours, A Single Man and Never Let Me Go in the Horizons section of the Vilnius festival.  Click here for further details on the SENSATION screening

Variety magazine commented on the film as... "it has a sense of pace and energy that sets it apart and should certainly turn the spotlight on young stars..." and  "the film delves into sex and prostitution but also manages to largely avoid the obvious clichés with its tale of a young man embarking on his sexual journey".

About ONE HUNDRED MORNINGS
Set in a world upended by a complete breakdown of society, two couples hide out in a lakeside cabin hoping to survive the crisis. As resources run low and external threats increase, they forge an uneasy alliance with their self-sufficient hippie neighbour.  With no news from the outside world they can't know how long they must endure living in such close quarters, and with such limited supplies.

Unspoken animosity fills the air, and a suspected affair is driving a wedge between them all.  Poorly equipped to cope in a world without technology and saddled with completely conflicting worldviews, everything begins to disintegrate. Finally, each of them faces a critical decision they never thought they'd have to make.

The film was made under the Catalyst scheme and was financed by the Irish Film Board, the BAI, Filmbase with the support of the Film council and TV3.  It was produced by Katie Holly for Blinder Films.

About SENSATION
SENSATION details the relationship between Sligo farmer Donal and a veteran Kiwi escort, Kim. They begin as client and call-girl, evolve into genuine lovers, then business partners and finally co-defendants. It is a relationship based less on desire or mutual attraction than on urgent need. They give each other something no one else can, a sense of meaning and belonging, a way into a society that had hitherto shunned them. In this way the narrative touches on another new theme in Irish life. The corrupting effects of power and money on someone who's never had any of either.

Donal longs for love and meaning but settles for sex and status. He will come to realise that they're not the same thing and will ultimately be faced with the prospect of betraying Kim to save himself. The question is, save himself for what?

The film was produced by Katie Holly and Kieron J. Walsh for Blinder Films.
