BSÉ/IFB BACKED FEATURES OPEN AND CLOSE THIS YEAR’S DIFF
Bord Scannán na hÉireann / the Irish Film Board (BSÉ/IFB) congratulates Alan Gilsenan’s TIMBUKTU and Lance Daly’s THE HALO EFFECT which, will respectively, open and close the 2004 Jameson Dublin International Film Festival (JDIFF).A total of 7 BSÉ/IFB backed features will be screened during this prestigious festival, which runs from February 12th to 22nd including, David Gleeson’s COWBOYS AND ANGELS, Shimmy Marcus’ HEADRUSH, Sean Walsh’s BLOOM, John Furse’s BLIND FLIGHT and Karl Golden’s THE HONEYMOONERS. “We are absolutely thrilled that JDIFF has chosen to honour Irish talent by allocating the prestigious opening and closing festival slots to Irish films”, said BSE/IFB CEO Mark Woods. “The Irish strand this year will be the most jam packed to date and its exciting that Irish audiences have such a wide selection of new Irish cinema to choose from”.
In addition to the impressive number of Irish debuts at the festival, BSÉ/IFB is sponsoring a free event entitled ‘In Conversation with Steven Gaydos’ at 12.00 noon on Wednesday February 18th in the Irish Film Institute. Steven Gaydos is the executive editor of the world famous VARIETY magazine and will be in discussion with Festival Director, Michael Dwyer.
