Successful Framework Projects Announced

Bord Scannán na hEireann/ the Irish Film Board are delighted to announce that the latest successful Frameworks projects have been selected.

Frameworks is a short film scheme exclusively for the making of animated short films. It was set up in 1995 with the aim to develop new talent and skills in this area and has since been very successful in stimulating ground-breaking new work from Irish animators.

Previous Frameworks successes include Brown Bag Films' Give Up Your Aul Sins and Granny O'Grimm's Sleeping Beauty which were both nominated for Oscars in the Best Animated Short Film category and Cartoon Saloon's Old Fangs which was officially selected for the prestigious Sundance Film Festival.

The successful projects selected for funding this year combine creative exploration with an ability to appeal to a broad audience.

This years successful projects are:
  • Umbra to be written and directed by Alan Holly and produced by Adrien Merigeau for And Maps and Plans. Adrien previously directed the award-winning animation Old Fangs.
  • Her to Fall to be written by Kris Kelly and Evelyn McGrath and directed by Kris Kelly. Evelyn McGrath will produce for Blacknorth.
  • After You to be written and directed by Damien O'Connor and produced by Steve Woods in Cel' Division. Damien previously wrote and directed the Framework short Dick Terrapin while Steve previously produced The Polish Language and Twas a Terrible Hard Work
  • We, The Masses to be written by Eoghan Kidney and Robyn O'Neill with Eoghan directing and Nicky Gogan producing for Locarno.

The scheme is funded by the Irish Film Board, RTÉ and the Arts Council and the shorts will premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh.
