Irish Short Film PAPERMAN Wins Best Animation Prize in Canada

Irish short animated film PAPERMAN is currently achieving great success on the festival circuit, winning the prize for Best Animation at the recent Canada International Film Festival as well as being selected for a host of international festivals including Melbourne International Animation Festival, British Independent Film Festival in Dorset, UK and Brussels Children's Film Festival.

Directed by Richard Kelly and co-written by Richard and Séan Ryan, PAPERMAN sees a lone man's quest to find his true love in a busy paper metropolis.  Will he find the Papergirl he hopes for?

The film premiered at the 2010 Galway Film Fleadh and had its UK premiere at the Bradford International Film Festival in March where it was short-listed as one of six films for the Shine Short Film Award which honours the best short by an emerging director.  It was also shortlisted for Best Use of Film or Animation Award at the Digital Media Awards in Dublin and received Special Mentions at the Irishfilmfesta Film Festival in Italy and the New York Short Film Festival.

The Canada International Film Festival which took place in Vancouver from the 2nd -3rd April showcases a wide variety of feature films to thought-provoking shorts, documentaries, music videos, animations, experimental films, student films, and more.

PAPERMAN, directed by Richard Kelly and co-written by Richard and Sean Ryan, tells of a paper man's quest for love to find his paper girl.  It was produced by Jessica Kelly for Prickly Pear Productions through the Frameworks scheme.  Frameworks is a joint initiative between BSÉ/IFB, RTÉ and the Arts Council.
