Irish Films Win Top Awards at International Film Festivals
Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board (BSÉ/IFB) is pleased to congratulate a number of Irish filmmakers who have recently scooped top prizes at film festivals around the world.Robert Quinn's DEAD BODIES won the Audience Award at the 8th Cinénygma Luxembourg International Film Festival, which took place last week specialising in the horror, noir and thriller genres. DEAD BODIES is a stylish and dark thriller set in modern day Dublin, staring Andrew Scott and Kelly Reilly and was produced by Distinguished Features with the support of BSÉ/IFB. High Point Films is looking after the international sales on this title and it will be screening at the Cannes market this May.
BSÉ/IFB backed Irish filmmakers also swept the boards at the Celtic Film and Television Awards, picking up several awards in Dundee this year. The Celtic Film and Television Festival is a celebration of the best on film and in broadcasting from Brittany, Cornwall, Ireland, Scotland and Wales and promotes the cultures and languages from these regions and countries. Amongst the winners were Vinegar Hill with their documentary, FRANK NED & BUSY LIZZIE which scooped the Best Feature Documentary Award and HARRY CLARKE - DARKNESS IN LIGHT which won an award for best Arts Documentary.
