IRISH FEATURE PRODUCTION HOTS UP FOR SUMMER

BSÉ/IFB has an exciting line-up of feature films slated for production in the second half of the year, including Neil Jordan’s BREAKFAST ON PLUTO, Pearse Elliott's THE MIGHTY CELT, Jimmy Smallhorne’s PUSHERS NEEDED and Stephen Bradley’s BOY EATS GIRL.

Treasure Entertainment Ltd's feature film project THE MIGHTY CELT, starring Robert Carlyle (TRAINSPOTTING, THE FULL MONTY, ANGELA’S ASHES, THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH) and Gillian Anderson (THE X-FILES, THE HOUSE OF MIRTH) is currently shooting in Belfast. The project, written and directed by Pearse Elliott, is co-financed with NIFTC, BBC Films, TV 3 and international sales agent by The Works.

With a remarkable ensemble cast including Joan Allen, Kathy Bates, Maggie Smith, Brenda Bleythn and Claire Danes, PUSHERS NEEDED is set to go into production next month. The film tells the story of a group of harried, working class housewives who win a trip to Lourdes and embark on an adventure that will change their lives. A UK/Irish co-production, this project will be directed by Irish director Jimmy Smallhorne and produced by Parallel Productions (INTERMISSION).

BOY EATS GIRL is a teen zombie movie written by Derek Landy and is to be directed by Stephen Bradley, whose previous features include SWEETY BARRETT with Element Films producing. Starring Samantha Mumba, the film is to be co-financed by BSÉ/IFB , the Isle of Man Film Commission, UK distributor Optimum and international sales agent Odyssey.

Announced at Cannes, Neil Jordan’s new film BREAKFAST ON PLUTO toplines Cillian Murphy and is co-financed with Pathe.

Other BSÉ/IFB films in post-production and slotted for local release later this year include Damien O’Donnell’s most recent film INSIDE I’M DANCING, Terry Loane’s JONJO MICKEYBO, and Conor McMahon’s low budget horror movie DEAD MEAT.
