Reality Bites short The Last Days of Peter Bergmann joins Frank and Calvary at Sundance

More great news from Sundance: a short film funded under the IFB’s Reality Bites scheme will join feature films Calvary and Frank at the 2014 festival.

The Last Days of Peter Bergmann, directed by Ciaran Cassidy and produced by Morgan Bushe for Fastnet Films, had its world premiere at IFI Stranger Than Fiction this year, where it picked up the audience award for Best Short Film. It tells the story of a man calling himself Peter Bergmann who arrived in Sligo Town in the summer of 2009. Over his final three days, he went to great lengths to make sure that no one would ever know who he was or where he came from.  Watch the trailer here.

Director Ciaran Cassidy and producer Morgan Bushe also worked together on the Reality Bites film Collaboration Horizontale, released in 2010, which unravels the mystery of a French woman who bore a child to a German soldier in the 1940s. This film screened at Telluride and won an award at the Palm Springs International Short Film Festival. Ciaran Cassidy has also won many prizes for his radio documentaries, including the 2010 Prix Europa for The Runners.

IFB-funded features Frank, directed by Lenny Abrahamson and starring Michael Fassbender, Domhnall Gleeson and Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Calvary, directed by John Michael McDonagh and starring Brendan Gleeson, Chris O’Dowd and Aidan Gillen, will also screen at Sundance, which takes place from January 16th and 26th in Park City, Utah.
