ADAM & PAUL AWARDED BEST FIRST FEATURE AT GALWAY FLEADH

Lenny Abramham's new film ADAM AND PAUL was awarded the prize for Best First Feature at the close of the Galway Film Fleadh last night. The film, which screened on Friday night to a packed audience, stars Mark O’Halloran and Tom Murphy and the prize , which was awarded to the hugely popular INTERMISSION, last year was voted for by the audience. ADAM AND PAUL was produced by Speers Films and Element Films and funded by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board (BSÉ/IFB), RTE and Xtravision.

Robert Quinn took the prize for Best Feature Documentary with CINEGAEL PARADISO and the prize for Best Irish Short Animation was awarded to Edith Pieperhoff's beautiful short SKELETON WOMAN.

GOD'S EARLY WORK, directed by Rory Bresnihan, and DUBLIN 1, directed by Jason Tammemagi, picked up second and third prize respectively in the animation section. Both of these shorts were commissioned by the short film scheme Frameworks. All of this years Frameworks films premiered at the Fleadh on Saturday and the scheme is funded by BSE/IFB, the Arts Council and RTE.
