Don’t Miss An exciting Line-up of Irish Films and Talent at the 26th Galway Film Fleadh

Don't miss an exciting line-up of new Irish films starring Irish home grown talent including Jack Reynor, Killian Scott, Peter Coonan and newcomer Moe Dunford at the Galway Film Fleadh festival next month, from July 8th-13th

New Bord Scannán na hÉireann / Irish Film Board supported feature films at the event include the world premiere of Glassland, the follow up film from Pilgrim Hill writer-director Gerard Barrett, starring Jack Reynor and Toni Collette; Get up and Go starring Love/Hate actors Killian Scott and Peter Coonan, Gold starring Maisie Williams and James Nesbit and Patrick's Day, hot off its success at the SXSW and Edinburgh Film Festivals starring newcomer Moe Dunford. 

Irish audiences will also have the opportunity to see the thriller The Canal directed by Ivan Kavanagh which had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year and has sold to a number of territories worldwide.

 There will also be a strong showing of Irish documentaries including the beautiful One Million Dubliners which reveals the often unspoken stories of ritual, loss, redemption, emotion, history and The Stranger which tells the story of a reclusive English artist who spent a great part of his life living as an hermit in a cave on the island of Inibofin. 

Gerard Barrett's Glassland tells the story of a taxi driver who reaches a crossroads in his life as he tries to save his mother from addiction. Get Up and Go, directed by Brendan Grant portrays an unforgettable 24-hour odyssey through bohemian Dublin, Niall Heery's Gold  is an offbeat comedy about an estranged father who returns to his hometown in order to reconnect with his daughter and ex-wife but unwittingly finds himself responsible for almost destroying all their lives. Patrick's Day directed by Terry McMahon tells the story of A young man with mental health issues becomes intimate with a suicidal air hostess but his obsessive mother enlists a dysfunctional cop to separate them.

The Irish language thriller An Brontannas directed by Tom Collins (Kings, The Boys from St. Columb's) starring John Finn will close the festival.

The subject of this year's public interview in the Town Hall Theatre is Brenda Fricker, star of My Left FootThe FieldVeronica Guerin and Albert Nobbs.
