Miss Julie Receives EFP Film Sales Support at TIFF
Upcoming feature film Miss Julie will benefit from European Film Promotion’s (EFP) Film Sales Support (FSS) scheme at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
The scheme, backed by the MEDIA Programme (2007-2013) of the European Union since 2004, will provide financial backing to sales companies at TIFF, which is a crucial launch pad for North American releases. 28 associated sales companies from 8 European countries will receive financial backing to market their films in Toronto, a little over €150,000 in total.
Miss Julie is adapted from August Strindberg’s 1888 play of the same name and directed by Liv Ullmann. The film stars Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty, The Tree of Life), Colin Farrell (In Bruges, Intermission) and Samantha Morton (Minority Report, In America).
Miss Julie is directed by Liv Ullman and produced by Teun Hilte and Oliver Dungey of The Apocalypse Films Company, Synnøve Hørsdal of Maipo Film, and co-produced by Rita Dagher of Senorita Films and Irish producers Tristan Orpen Lynch and Aoife O'Sullivan for Subotica. Miss Julie is the latest film adaptation based on the play of the same name by Swedish playwright August Strindberg. Miss Julie received funding from Bord Scannan na hEireann/the Irish Film Board and Northern Ireland Screen fund.
Joining Miss Julie at the TIFF will be Cartoon Saloon’s new animated feature film Song of the Sea. The 2014 TIFF runs from September 4th to 14th.
