Stranger than Fiction - Showrunners featuring Joss Whedon, J.J. Abrams, Damon Lindelof and much more
Showrunners will screen at the Stranger than Fiction festival at Dublin’s Irish Film Institute this Sunday (September 28th), with director Des Doyle in attendance.
The documentary examines the role of the “showrunner” and the creative talent aligned around them. These people work behind the scenes in television and are responsible for creating, writing and overseeing every element of production to ensure that each episode is delivered on time and on budget. The showrunner is often described as the most complex job in the entertainment business, balancing the creative, financial and logistical elements of production. Showrunners explores their role and the effort required to ensure hit TV shows even make it to the air at all!
This documentary features contributions from showrunners past and present, including Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), J.J. Abrams (Alias), Damon Lindelof (Lost), Bill Prady (The Big Bang Theory), Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica), Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire) and much more.
Showrunners previously screened at the San Diego Comic Con event in July. For more details on Showrunners see the film website, watch the trailer on YouTube or check out its Stranger than Fiction page.
