Irish Film New York to celebrate Jim Sheridan and screen a host of Irish films

The Irish Film New York (IFNY) festival kicks off this weekend, which will screen five new films as well as hosting a celebration of the films of Jim Sheridan.

Sheridan will attend the festival, which will screen his films My Left Foot, In The Name of the Father and In America. Sheridan will attend the In America screening, where he will talk about his upcoming work with HBO, his new film The Secret Scripture and his relationship with New York City.

The festival will also screen a number of new films, starting with Gold starring David Wilmot, Maisie Williams and James Nesbitt, in addition to Love Eternal, Out of Here, Poison Pen and Broken Song.

The IFNY screening series is co-presented by NYU’s Glucksman Ireland House and funded by Culture Ireland and supported by the Irish Film Institute, Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, & the Irish Tourist Board.

IFNY aims to foster partnerships between Irish and US-based film institutes, producers, and directors, and to hold screenings, panel discussions, and filmmaker events that share the best of Irish film with US audiences.
