Congratulations to the Irish Animation Industry on Earning Six Nominations at the BAFTA Children's Awards 2014

Bord Scannan na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board is delighted to congratulate the Irish animation industry, which has once again demonstrated a world standard of work with an impressive haul of nominations at the BAFTA 2014 British Academy Children's Awards. Four Irish productions have been nominated including the Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board supported series Roy, Doc McStuffins, Bing and The Amazing World of Gumball.

The hit live action-animated TV show Roy was nominated in the categories of Drama and Writer. Roy won the Drama award in 2012. Produced in Ireland by JAM Media for CBBC with support from Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, Roy follows the adventures of Roy O'Brien, the animated son of a real family.

The hugely successful Doc McStuffins was nominated in the International category. Doc McStuffins, which was created by Chris Nee and is a Disney Junior production in conjunction with Brown Bag Films, is an animated series about a six-year-old girl who heals stuffed animals and toys in her backyard clinic.

The charming animated series Bing was nominated in the Pre-School Animation category. Also produced by Brown Bag Films, Bing is based on the massively popular book series "Bing" by author and illustrator Ted Dewan and is produced for BBC's pre-school channel CBeebies.

The Amazing World of Gumball, enjoyed by audiences worldwide,  was nominated for Animation and Writer. It won the BAFTA Best Animation Award in 2011 and 2012 as well as the Best Children's Writing award in 2011, 2012 and 2013. The Amazing World of Gumball was co-produced by Dublin based animation company Boulder Media for Cartoon Network, and follows the misadventures of 12-year old Gumball and his family in the weird and wonderful little town of Elmore.

Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board is the state agency with responsibility for the development of Irish filmmaking and the Irish film, television and animation sector. The agency invests in the development of Irish animation content.

The British Academy Children's Awards will be held in London on November 23rd 2014.
