IFB CEO James Hickey Congratulates Donald Taylor Black on his Appointment as Vice Chair of GEECT

Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board CEO James Hickey has congratulated Donald Taylor Black, Creative Director of The National Film School at IADT and documentary maker, on his appointment as Vice Chair of GEECT (Groupement Européen des Ecoles de Cinéma et de Télévision / European Grouping of Film and Television Schools).

James Hickey said of the appointment: “I wish to congratulate Donald Taylor Black on his new role as Vice Chair of GEECT and wish him the very best of luck in the coming years.”

GEECT is the regional association of CILECT's European members, in addition to schools in Israel and Lebanon. Donald took over from Nik Powell, Director of the UK's National Film & Television School, who retired from GEECT's Executive after completing the maximum 8 year term.

The new Chair of GEECT is Bert Beyens of RITS, School of Arts, in Belgium, and the other members of the Executive are Pavel Jech of FAMU, Czech Republic (Treasurer), Vinca Wiedemann of the National Film School of Denmark, and Manuel José Damasio, Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias (Portugal).

The National Film School at IADT will host GEECT's first ever conference on Production Design in Dun Laoghaire from 11-13 March, 2015.
