Irish Film Out of Here Opens in Dublin’s IFI November 7th, Cork’s Triskel November 23rd

Out of Here, a film supported by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, will open in Dublin’s IFI from November 7th for a two week run. This will be followed by screenings at Cork’s Triskel Arts Centre from November 23rd to 26th.

Directed by Donal Foreman, Out of Here stars Fionn Walton as Ciaran, a passionate yet restless college dropout who has returned home to recession-struck Dublin after a year of travelling. Broke and living with his parents, struggling to re-connect with the ex-girlfriend that he left behind and the friends and social scene that have moved on without him, Ciaran questions whether he should stay or go – and comes to realize the difference between being stuck and being present. Out of Here is a contemporary coming of age story shedding Dublin and its youth culture in a light not previously seen or explored. Out of Here also stars Aoife Duffin and Annabell Rickerby.

In a four-star review in The Irish Times, Tara Brady calls it “profound, humorous and touching. Out of Here has plenty to say about the state of the nation, masculinity and identity. That it can do so while keeping up lively, authentic banter is a marvel.”

In a four-star review on Entertainment.ie, Gavin Burke described the film as “A debut of promise, Out Of Here marks one Donal Foreman out as a real talent” and noted that the feature “moves with the confidence of a third or fourth film.”

The film's production was funded completely through crowd-sourcing and received completion support from the IFB. It was produced by Emmet Fleming for Stalker Films, the company behind King of the Travellers, Stalker and Between the Canals.
