‘Ghost Train’ Steams Ahead to Awards Success at European Film Festivals

Irish-Finnish co-production Ghost Train has enjoyed wide European success after the short film picked up awards at French and Spanish film festivals.

The short film won the highly-coveted Méilés D’Argent for Best European Fantastic Film at the Molins de Rei Horror Film Festival in Spain, which was awarded by the European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation. This will allow Ghost Train to compete for the Méilés D’Or in Sitges next year, which is awarded annually for the best European fantastic feature film and short film.

The film also won Best Special Effects and 2nd Prize from the Jury at the festival.

Ghost Train was the winner of the Youth Jury Award at the San Sebastian Horror and Fantasy Festival, also in Spain.

At the Court Métrange Fantastic Film Festival in France, Ghost Train was awarded the Youth Audience Award for Best Film.

Directed by Lee Cronin, Ghost Train tells the story of estranged brothers Michael and Peter, who once a year make a reluctant pilgrimage to the old fairground where their friend Sam went missing three decades ago. This time, Michael has a secret to confess.

The film was financed by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board and produced by Rank Outsider Productions and MADE.
