Award-Winners Patrick’s Day, Gold and Somewhere Down the Line Amongst Lineup at Rome Irish Film Festa

The 8th edition of the Rome Irish Film Festa takes place from March 26th to 29th, with award-winning films including Patrick’s Day, Gold and Somewhere Down the Line joining the lineup of this year’s festival.

Amongst the feature film lineup at this year’s festival is Terry McMahon’s Patrick’s Day. Starring European Shooting Star award recipient Moe Dunford, Patrick’s Day was recently released in Irish cinemas to great acclaim and has won awards including Best Feature Film at the Woodstock Film Festival. Also screening is Gold, directed by Niall Heery (Small Engine Repair) and starring James Nesbitt (Bloody Sunday), David Wilmot (Calvary), Kerry Condon (Rome) and Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), in a comedy about a wandering loner who finds himself forced to reconnect with his estranged daughter and ex-partner. Gold has won the award for Best Film at the Boston Irish Film Festival.

The festival will host a day dedicated to the Irish language which will include An Bronntanas, a thriller directed by Tom Collins which was recently broadcast to acclaim on TG4, and the short film Rúbaí by Louise Ni Fhiannachta, the winner of the Best Irish Short Film award at the Foyle Film Festival.

This year there will be fifteen short films in competition, including Somewhere Down the Line, which recently won the Best Animation award at the Clermont Ferrand Short Film Festival and Ghost Train, the winner of the Méilés D’Argent for Best European Fantastic Film at the Molins de Rei Horror Film Festival.

Irish Film Festa 2015 will also pay tribute to the acclaimed Irish filmmaker Lenny Abrahamson, the director of Adam & Paul, Garage, What Richard Did (all screening at the festival) and Frank.
