IRELAND WELL REPRESENTED AT 15th CARTOON FORUM
Three BSE/IFB backed animation projects were presented at the 15th Cartoon Forum, held this year in Santiago de Compostela in Galicia Northern Spain in late September.Giving an important insight into Europe's animation industry, 70 television animation series were presented to potential co-financiers from 15 European countries. Ireland was well represented at the forum with 3 of the 70 projects being wholly Irish productions and in receipt of development finance from BSE/IFB. JUMBO DOG TRIO from Kavaleer Productions, Zinc Films' KATIE BALONEY SAVES THE WORLD and CAT BUNGLAR from Keg Kartoons. Magma Films also presented two projects including PIRATE SCHOOL and ENJO, a Danish/Irish co-production.
Attended by BSE/IFB Development Manager Paula Mulroe, Cartoon Forum allocates each project 45 minutes to screen their pilot episodes and present the details of the series, in the atmosphere of a cinema theatre attended by a cross section of participants, including producers, broadcasters, funding organisations and distributors. This allows all participants to devote 100% concentration to the topic being presented.
The structure of the Cartoon Forum allows the participants to interact and network with ease and all involved spoke very highly of the general organisation and the potential to forge new links across Europe.
