BSÉ/IFB SPONSOR CREATIVE FORUM AT SHARK ADVERTISING AWARDS
Hot on the heels of the success of advertising director Lenny Abrahamson’s ADAM & PAUL, BSE/IFB Head of Production & Development Brendan McCarthy encouraged directors, who had experience in the advertising, to consider directing a short or to take advantage of the BSÉ/IFB Low Budget Initiative as a means in which to enter the area of feature directing, at this years Advertising Awards.BSÉ/IFB sponsored the creative forum at the Awards which took place in Galway in September. McCarthy participated in the Creative Workshop entitled A Clio To an Oscar, which focused on directors moving between advertising and feature films. Speakers included Damian O'Donnell (INSIDE I'M DANCING, EAST IS EAST), Marcus Adams (LONG TIME DEAD, OCTANE), and David Alex Riddett (Cinematographer - CHICKEN RUN) all of whom have worked in both the advertising and film industry.
O'Donnell, who directed the award winning Shot Cut 35-ASIDE stated that the success of his short film was hugely influential in launching his feature film career.
