TWO IRISH FILMS IN BOX OFFICE TOP TEN
Irish films are breaking records at the Irish box office as MAN ABOUT DOG and INSIDE I’M DANCING, two independently produced Irish films, were both ranked in the top ten last week.Paddy Breathnach’s MAN ABOUT DOG has passed the €1.4 million mark at the Irish box office and has already become the second highest grossing independent Irish film on record. The film, which is distributed by Buena Vista international (Ireland), is still playing in cinemas nationwide and will be released in Northern Ireland in November.
MAN ABOUT DOG was produced by Treasure Entertainment and scripted by Pearse Elliott, who has been nominated for and IFTA award in the Best New Talent category, co-sponsored by the BSE/IFB and the NIFTC. MAN ABOUT DOG itself has been nominated for ten Irish Film & Television Awards including Best Irish Film, Best Film Director and Best Script.
Damien O’Donnell’s INSIDE I’M DANCING, which opened to rave reviews, continues to play in cinemas in Ireland and the UK. The film picked up the Audience Award at the Edinburgh Film Festival and has also been nominated for seven Irish Film & Television Awards including Best Irish Film, Best Film Director and Best Script. INSIDE I’M DANCING is due to be released in the US by Focus Features early next year and was produced by Octagon Films and WT2.
