You’re Ugly Too, Brand New-U and The Hallow Join the Lineup for Edinburgh International Film Festival

The lineup for the Edinburgh International Film Festival has been unveiled, with Irish films You’re Ugly Too, Brand New-U and The Hallow joining a total of 164 features from 36 countries.

You’re Ugly Too, which premiered at the Berlinale Festival earlier this year, was written and directed by Mark Noonan and is his debut feature film.  The film stars Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones) as Will, who is released from prison on compassionate leave to care for his niece Stacey (Lauran Kinsella, Albert Nobbs), after the death of her mother. As they both head into the sleepy Irish midlands and attempt to be a family, they suffer a series of setbacks. You’re Ugly Too was produced by Savage Productions.

Directed by Simon Pummell, Brand New-U is a psychological thriller and obsessive love story, a film stripped down and re-arranged into the looping logic of a nightmare. Brand New-U is a film about a man who must kill his old selves to create himself anew and his search for woman he loves. Brand New-U receives its world premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. It was produced by SP Films, Hot Property Films and Rinkel Films.

The Hallow premiered in Official Selection at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Directed by Corin Hardy and filmed in Co. Galway, the film follows a London-based conservationist (Joseph Mawle, Ripper Street) who moves to Ireland with his wife (Bojana Novakovic, Edge of Darkness) and baby, to survey an area of ancient forest believed by the superstitious locals to be hallowed ground. He unwittingly disturbs a horde of terrifying beings and must fight to protect his family. The film also stars Michael McElhatton (Game of Thrones) and Michael Smiley (The World's End). The Hallow screens in partnership with Scotland’s award-winning Horror festival, Dead by Dawn. The film was produced by Occupant Entertainment and Fantastic Films.

The 69th Edinburgh International Film Festival takes place from June 17th to 28th 2015.
