‘Penny Dreadful’ is Renewed for Season 3, to be Filmed in Wicklow and Dublin

The hit TV series Penny Dreadful, which films in Ireland, has been renewed for a third season by US network Showtime.  The series was created by John Logan (Gladiator, Skyfall) and is scheduled to begin filming in the autumn in Ardmore Studios as well as Dublin.

"John Logan's brilliant writing and this amazingly talented ensemble continue to draw a passionate, global fanbase into the meticulously crafted world of ‘Penny Dreadful,'" said Showtime Networks president David Nevins. "Together with our wonderful partners at Sky Atlantic, we're excited to see what new haunts John and his team have in store for season three."

This is the third season of this popular show to be made in Ireland, with each season creating employment for over 350 cast and crew, and inward investment worth over €30 million annually.  Penny Dreadful is executive produced by Logan along with Academy Award®-winner Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Skyfall). The series stars Josh Hartnett (Black Hawk Down), Eva Green (Casino Royale), Timothy Dalton (Licence to Kill), Billie Piper (Doctor Who) and Rory Kinnear (Quantum of Solace), in addition to 2015 IFTA Rising Star Sarah Greene (Noble).

Penny Dreadful is a Neal Street and Desert Wolf co-production funded by Showtime and Sky.

The first series of Penny Dreadful benefitted from Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board's International Production Fund, which aims to attract major film and television productions to Ireland.
