IFB Supported Projects are Amongst the Lineup at the IFI’s Family Festival this Weekend

The IFI (Irish Film Institute) will host their Family Festival over the coming days (July 16th to 19th), which includes projects funded by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board amongst the lineup.

On 11am on Saturday July 18th, families can look forward to spending time with Cartoon Saloon’s hit TV series Puffin Rock. Aimed at three to five-year-olds, this is a series set on a wild and beautiful Irish island which features the voice of Chris O’Dowd (The IT Crowd, Moone Boy). As well as the chance to watch the series on the big screen, Puffin Rock co-creator and art director Lily Bernard will show and tell how she draws the characters. Families can then take part in fun activities out in the foyer afterwards. Recommended for ages 3+.

Also taking place on July 18th is a screening of Lisa Mulcahy’s fantasy feature The Legend of Longwood, which will be attended by the director along with members of the cast and crew. The Legend of Longwood follows Mickey Miller, a 12-year-old New Yorker whose move to Longwood, a windswept town in Ireland, coincides with the return of the legendary, evil Black Knight. Mickey and her new friend Sean – along with Silver, a wild stallion – set out to redeem the Knight. First she must save a precious herd of white horses and thwart the plans of a greedy woman – a mighty handful even for the bravest girl! The screening begins at 6pm and is recommended for ages 9+.
