Irish Family Film ‘The Legend of Longwood’ is Released in Cinemas this Friday, October 23

Irish fantasy adventure film The Legend of Longwood will hit Irish cinemas this Friday, October 23rd.

The Legend of Longwood follows 12-year-old Mickey Miller, who after moving from New York to Ireland soon discovers a link between herself and the 300-year-old legend of the mysterious Black Knight, who regularly haunts the sleepy Irish village. With courage and a sharp mind, she sets out to save a precious herd of white horses and to thwart the evil plans of a greedy, ambitious woman.

Directed by Lisa Mulcahy, The Legend of Longwood stars newcomer Lucy Morton in addition to Miriam Margoyles, best known to young audiences for her role as Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter series.

The Legend of Longwood also won second prize at the 44th Giffoni Film Festival, Europe’s largest festival for children’s cinema.

Written by Nadadja Kemper and Lisa Mulcahy, the film was produced by Michael Garland, Rob Vermuelen and Nadadja Kemper. The production companies were Grand Pictures and Holland Harbour, while the film was financed by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, the Dutch Film Fund, Premiere Pictures, DFFF – German Federal Film Fund, 3D Boutique and Egg Post Production.
