Short Films ‘January Hymn’ and ‘Quarantine’ Screen at the IFI this Thursday, November 19th

January Hymn and Quarantine, two short films funded by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, will screen tomorrow (November 19th) in Dublin’s Irish Film Institute (IFI). The films will screen as part of ‘Borders’, a programme of short films exploring the nature of boundaries.

A reflection on the intangible experience of grief, January Hymn sees Clara return home for the first anniversary of her father's death. Written and directed by Katherine Canty, it was produced by Tanja Harney for January Hymn Productions Ltd and stars Niamh Algar, Ally Ni Chiarain and Aisling McLaughlin. It was funded under the Signatures short film scheme. This screening is the Dublin premiere of January Hymn.

Documentary Quarantine was co-directed by Tadhg O'Sullivan and Feargal Ward and is an intimate portrait of one woman's solitary time in the Radioactive Iodine Suite in St Luke’s Hospital, where she enters each Tuesday and is left until the end of the week. Through the lead-lined glass an intimate portrait of one woman's solitary time with illness, fate and faith is captured. Produced by Pat Collins and Tadhg O'Sullivan for Harvest Films, it was funded under the Reality Bites short film scheme.

The program of short films begin at 6.30pm at the IFI in Temple Bar, Dublin 2. Book tickets on the IFI’s website here.
