Screening of ‘Being AP’ with Q&A Tonight Ahead of General Release on Friday, November 27th

Being AP, a documentary which follows the life and career of legendary jump jockey AP McCoy, will screen this evening (Monday November 23rd), featuring a Q&A with McCoy broadcast live from London, hosted by Clare Balding. This is ahead of the film’s general release in cinemas on Friday, November 27th and its DVD release next Monday, November 30th.

Being AP is the incredible inside story of a sporting legend. As A.P. McCoy nears the end of his career, the characteristics that have driven him to dominate the most dangerous of sports remain as strong as ever. Fearless and willing to sacrifice everything to achieve his goals, this film reveals the exhaustive training routine, injuries, doubt, triumphs, failures, and A.P.’s soul-searching to find a way to leave the stage. With unprecedented access to A.P. and those closest to him, Being A.P. celebrates an incredible man who became the greatest jump jockey the world has ever seen.

This documentary of the recently-retired jockey was directed by Anthony Wonke and produced by Alan Maher, Nick Ryle and John Woollcombe. The production companies were Roads Entertainment, Moneyglass Films and Partizan Films.

Being AP premiered at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival in September of this year. The film was praised by The Racing Post for being accessible for both fans and newcomers to the sport. “This is race jumping at its most vivid, with the man who came to dominate his profession portrayed with a level of sometimes brutal honesty that will leave those new to his genius both shocked and in awe.”
