‘Love & Friendship’ Secures North American and UK Distribution Ahead of Sundance Debut
Ahead of its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this Saturday, the Irish co-production Love & Friendship has secured a North American cinema release after being acquired by Amazon and Roadside Attractions, and UK distribution from Curzon Artificial Eye.
While Amazon had previously acquired the rights to Love & Friendship for its subscription streaming service, the partnership with Roadside Attractions means that it will also hit theatres in North America.
Set in the 1790s, Love & Friendship follows the machinations of the beautiful widow Lady Susan Vernon, who seeks refuge from rumour and gossip about her dalliances and plots new conquests at the estate of her in-laws.
Love & Friendship was directed by Whit Stillman, who adapted the screenplay from Jane Austen’s novel Lady Susan. The cast includes Kate Beckinsale, Chloë Sevigny, Xavier Samuel and Stephen Fry.
Love & Friendship was filmed in Ireland in 2015. Producers were Katie Holly, Whit Stillman and Lauranne Bourrachot while the production companies were Blinder Films, Westerly Films, Chic Films, and Revolver Amsterdam. Irish finance came from Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board.
