TWO IRISH FEATURE FILMS SELECTED FOR INTERNATIONAL BERLIN FILM FESTIVAL

Lenny Abrahamson’s ADAM & PAUL and Pearse Elliott’s THE MIGHTY CELT have both been selected for the prestigious International Berlin Film Festival, which takes place from the 10th - 20th February.

ADAM & PAUL, enthusiastically received by Irish audiences last year, follows two hapless junkies over the course of a single day, which like every other is entirely dedicated to the business of scrounging and robbing money for drugs. The film stars the 2005 Shooting Star Mark O’Halloran, who also wrote the script and will feature in the Panorama section of the festival, which has showcased innovative and individual auteur films from independent filmmakers for the last two decades.

THE MIGHTY CELT stars Robert Carlyle (TRAINSPOTTING, THE FULL MONTY) and Gillian Anderson (THE X-FILES, THE HOUSE OF MIRTH) and will feature in the Kinderfilmfest programme of the festival. The film is written and directed by Pearse Elliott, who scripted MAN ABOUT DOG, the box-office topping, Irish blockbuster released by Buena Vista International (Ireland) last year.

THE MIGHTY CELT was produced by Treasure Entertainment and is a BBC Films presentation in association with Bord Scannán na hÉireann/The Irish Film Board (BSÉ/IFB) and the NIFTC. ADAM & PAUL was produced by Speers Film and executive produced by Element Films with co-financing from BSE/IFB, RTE and Xtravision under the BSE/IFB Low Budget Initiative.

The short film KILLING THE AFTERNOON, directed by Margaret Corkery, has also been selected to screen at the festival.
