Irish Films Ready to Make an Impact at International Film Festival Rotterdam

A host of Irish films are ready to descend upon the prestigious International Film Festival Rotterdam, with a world premiere, Sundance favourites and an Academy Award®-nominee amongst the Irish lineup.

This includes the premiere of History’s Future, which will compete as part of the Hivos Tiger Awards Competition. The debut feature from renowned artist Fiona Tan, History’s Future fuses fiction and documentary into a visual essay charting an amnesiac’s odyssey into regaining memory via a Europe in turmoil. By the time his journey ends, MP has learned to survive, newly armed with an understanding of how we live today. It stars Irish actors Mark O’Halloran (Adam & Paul) and Brian Gleeson (The Stag).

Three titles which have premiered at the Sundance Film Festival will screen in Rotterdam – Whit Stillman’s Jane Austen adaptation Love & Friendship, Rebecca Daly’s drama Mammal and Pieter-Jan De Pue’s documentary The Land of the Enlightened.

Completing the Irish lineup are the science fiction-thriller Brand New-U, the documentary Innocence of Memories directed by Grant Gee, Lenny Abrahamson’s Academy Award®-nominated Room and Jerzy Skolimowski’s 11 Minutes.

History’s Future, Love & Friendship, Mammal, The Land of the Enlightened, Brand New-U, Innocence of Memories, Room and 11 Minutes were funded by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board.
