Clermont Ferrand Short Film Festival is Underway with ‘A Coat Made Dark’ and Irish Stand
The Clermont Ferrand International Short Film Festival is now in full swing, with the Irish animated short A Coat Made Dark screening in official selection. Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board (IFB) has a stand at the event, which is located at Irish Stand #9 at the Short Film Market, Clermont Ferrand.
Written and directed by Jack O’Shea, a graduate of the National Film School at Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT), A Coat Made Dark is an animation in which a man follows the orders of a dog to wear a coat with impossible pockets. It was produced by Damien Byrne for STILL Films and features the voices of Hugh O'Conor, Declan Conlon and Antonia Campbell Hughes. It was funded by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board under the Frameworks short film scheme, in addition to RTÉ and the Arts Council.
In January, A Coat Made Dark screened at the Sundance Film Festival.

The festival, which takes place in the city of Clermont-Ferrand, France, is regarded as the world's leading film festival dedicated to short films. It is France's second-largest film festival in terms of attendance, coming only after Cannes.
Irish shorts to have been selected for Clermont Ferrand in previous years include Foxes, Ghost Train and Somewhere Down the Line, which in 2015 won the Best Animation award in the International Competition.
