ATLANTIC opens with special screening at IFI, Dublin

Atlantic, a documentary by Risteard Ó Domhnaill, opens today at the IFI with a special opening night screening. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the director who will be joined by Arranmore and Rossaveal fishermen and the film’s narrator Brendan Gleeson, hosted by Ann Cahill, Europe Correspondent for the Irish Examiner.

Atlantic follows the fortunes of three fishing communities in transition – Ireland, Norway and Newfoundland, as they deal with mounting challenges within their own industry, an environment under threat and the lure of high wages on the offshore rigs. This film focuses on the personal stories from those living with these changes, and the threat of losing their livelihoods forever.

This special screening takes place this evening at 8.30pm. Tickets available here.
