Cannes Sales News: IFC Midnight Acquires North American & Latin Rights to I Am Not a Serial Killer

IFC Midnight have announced today that the company has acquired North American and Latin American rights to Billy O'Brien's I AM NOT A SERIAL KILLER. The film, with a screenplay by O'Brien and Christopher Hyde, is based on the novel by Dan Wells, stars Max Records, Christopher Lloyd, Laura Fraser and Karl Geary.

I AM NOT A SERIAL KILLER made its world premiere at the 2016 SXSW Film Festival and takes place in a small Midwestern town where a troubled teen with homicidal tendencies must hunt down and destroy a supernatural killer whilst keeping his own inner demons at bay. Funded by Bord Scannan na hEireann/The Irish Film Board, Quickfire Films and The Fyzz Facility the film is produced by Floodland Pictures and The Tea Shop & Film Company

Commenting on the deal IFC Midnight said "Billy O'Brien has done a stunning job of bringing Dan Wells' book to the screen with an endlessly engaging film suffused with wry humor, finely wrought performances and a moody, haunting atmosphere."

Andrew Orr of Independent commented: "Billy O'Brien has created a truly distinct and special film.  The audience reaction in SXSW was incredible and so we are delighted to have found our ideal partner in IFC Midnight to take the film to a wider audience in the US."
The deal was negotiated by Andrew Orr and Nada Cirjanic of Independent Film Company on behalf of the filmmakers.
