Congratulations to the teams behind HANDSOME DEVIL and BRAIN ON FIRE - selected for Toronto International Film Festival 2016

Handsome Devil directed by John Butler (The Stag) and Brain on Fire from Gerard Barrett (Glassland) have today been announced for the Toronto International Film Festival, bringing the number of Irish films in this year's programme to an unprecedented total of eight. The films will join Maudie, The Secret Scripture, Unless, Without Name, Forever Pure and short film Second to None on the programme for the prestigious festival.

Produced by Rebecca O'Flanagan and Rob Walpole for Treasure Entertainment, the cast of Handsome Devil includes Andrew Scott (Sherlock), Moe Dunford (Vikings), Amy Huberman (The Stag), Michael McElhatton (Game of Thrones), Fionn O'Shea (The Siege of Jadotville) and Nick Galitzine. The film was selected for the Contemporary World Cinema strand of the programme.

Handsome Devil is set in a privileged boys' boarding school in Ireland. Ned and Conor are forced to share a bedroom at their boarding school. The loner and the macho athlete at this rugby-mad school form an unlikely friendship, until the authorities test it. Former Ireland and Lions rugby captain Brian O'Driscoll was on set last summer to choreograph some of the rugby scenes.

With Chloe Grace Moretz (The Amityville Horror) in the lead role, Brain on Fire also stars Richard Armitage (The Hobbit) and Thomas Mann (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl). Charlize Theron is an Executive Producer on the film.

Brain on Fire is a look at a young New York woman's rapid descent into insanity.

The Toronto International Film Festival takes place from the 8-18 September 2016.
