Cameras roll in Wexford on new Irish film THE LODGERS

New Irish feature film The Lodgers will shoot on location in Wexford over the coming weeks, with support from Bord Scannán na hÉireann/Irish Film Board

The gothic ghost story feature film will feature Irish comedian Deirdre O'Kane, and Actors Moe Dunford (Vikings) and Roisin Murphy (What Richard Did) as well as rising stars Charlotte Vega, Eugene Simon (Game of Thrones), Bill Milner (X-Men First Class, Anthropoid), and David Bradley (Harry Potter, Game of Thrones).

The film is set in 1920's rural Ireland during its War of Independence and tells the story of Anglo Irish twins Rachel and Edward who are just about to turn 18. They reside in a crumbling manor on the edge of a village, where they have lived alone since their parents' untimely death. Except they are not entirely alone - for they share the house with an unseen spiritual force which resides in the basement, known only as The Lodgers. The twins must live by very strict rules set out by The Lodgers, or face unknown and devastating punishments.

The Lodgers is the second feature film from award winning director Brian O'Malley (Let us Prey) and was penned by acclaimed musician and professor of gothic literature, David Turpin.
Speaking about the talented cast, director Brian O'Malley enthused; "I am really delighted with the talented cast we have on board. I think they will do a phenomenal job of bringing this world to life and translating the story to audiences in a really emotional way."

The film will be almost entirely shot in Ireland's 'most haunted house' Loftus Hall, celebrating its 666th birthday this year. Speaking about the involvement of Loftus Hall, owner Aidan Quigley remarked "Loftus Hall is an incredibly atmospheric and cinematic location and we have long considered it to be an ideal choice for a fictional ghost story. We are delighted that it has been chosen as the primary location for this elegant gothic horror and we can't wait to see the final result."

The film is produced by Ruth Treacy and Julianne Forde of Tailored Films (Stitches) and financed by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/Irish Film Board and Epic Pictures Group (Tales of Halloween, Turbo Kid).
