Doc Day at Cork Film Festival, Friday November 18

The 61st edition of Cork Film Festival will take place from November 11 - 20, bolstered by an impressive showcase of the best Irish, independent and international cinema. On Friday November  18, in partnership with Bord Scannán na hÉireann / Irish Film Board, the festival presents Doc Day, a day of talks and discussions from industry experts exploring trends in Irish and global documentary.

Taking place in the River Lee Hotel from 11am, this flagship event examines the worlds of festival programming, the changing landscapes of commissioning and distribution, and explores unique productions. Through a range of panel discussions, case studies and talks, Doc Day seeks to inform and inspire established directors, producers, writers and anyone serious about documentary, by engaging industry professionals in topics addressing the needs and wants of the documentary industry.

Doc Day also provides a networking opportunity for participants and industry professionals alike and the day will feature a series of key industry insiders from the world of documentary including Serafina DiFelice (Associate Director of Programming, Hot Docs),  Luke Moody (Director of Film Programming, Sheffield Doc/Fest), Rich Warren (Co-director, Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival), Oli Harbottle (Head of Distribution, Dogwoof) and  Patrick O'Neill (Managing Director, Wildcard Distribution), Alan Maher (CEO / Producer, Roads Entertainment).  Acclaimed documentary maker Kim Longinotto will deliver the day's keynote speech.

Cork Film Festival is Ireland's oldest film festival and Doc Day provides an important opportunity within the line-up to address a range of agenda-setting issues as the festival continues to expand its focus on the documentary industry. For more information on Doc Day and to book tickets, click here
