Nathalie Lichtenthaeler selected as Irish 'Producer on the Move' for Cannes 2005

Nathalie Lichtenthaeler from Irish production company Wide Eye Films has been named the 2005 EFP Producer On The Move, selected for the Cannes International Film Festival (11 - 22 May 2005).

European Film Promotion (EFP) launched the initiative Producers On The Move six years ago to support enterprising European producers with their international networking and to draw attention to the people behind the scene of any filmmaking effort, who are not only finance experts, but also creative thinkers and psychologists.

This year the EFP member organisations have selected 19 highly promising producers (10 women and nine men) from 19 different European countries. They will take part in this initiative, financially supported by the MEDIA Programme of the EU, from 13 to 16 May during the Festival de Cannes. Prerequisite for the selection of the producers was that they fulfilled one of the three criteria with regard to a film they have produced: it was either a box office hit in their own country, was sold to another country or presented at an international film festival.

Nathalie Lichtenthaeler graduated from University in Wiesbaden (Germany) in 1990 with a Masters Degree in Economics. Half French, half German, she speaks five languages fluently.

Soon after graduation, Nathalie ditched a promising career in international marketing in the fashion industry and signed on as a production assistant on a film set. Her rise through the production ranks was swift and, after having worked on approximately 14 feature films and TV movies, Nathalie made her move into producing.

In 1995, she relocated to the US where she studied for a short time at the New York Film Academy and at the Hollywood Film Institute. On returning to Europe, Nathalie moved to Ireland where she established Wide Eye Films Ltd. in Dublin and was a participant on courses offered by the Media Film Business School (feature film production) and Media Business School/UIP (marketing and distribution).

In 2003, Nathalie produced her first feature film with David Gleeson's debut ‘Cowboy’s & Angels’ which was released in Ireland through Buena Vista International in July 2004 and in the US through TLA Releasing in September 2004.

Nathalie now has a slate of feature film projects in development, including a high-profile remake of the 1970's Italian blockbusting tearjerker ‘The Last Snows of Spring’ and an Iraq-based army thriller, ‘Flashpoint’, which she is producing with Irish producer James Flynn for Octagon Films.

In August of this year, Nathalie will enter into production on David Gleeson's second feature ‘The Front Line’. World sales are being handled by Portman Films.
