HEADRUSH in Irish Cinemas Nationwide this Weekend

The award winning Irish film, HEADRUSH is being released by Zanzibar Films at cinemas nationwide on Friday, June 24th. Directed by Shimmy Marcus, HEADRUSH is a black comedy caper about two guys who hope to solve all their problems by working for a notorious local gangster.

Wuzza Conlon and Gavin Kelty play layabouts, Charlie and T-Bag, who orbit society in a haze of dope and dreams. When Charlie gets kicked off the dole and dumped by his girlfriend, Vicky (Laura Pyper) , his whole world crashes to earth.

HEADRUSH is the winner of five international awards and features cameos from Fun Lovin' Criminals (FLC) front man, Huey Morgan, legendary rock DJ, BP Fallon and columnist and tv presenter, Amanda Brunker. Laura Pyper (Hex), Tom Hickey (Raining Stones), Mick Nolan (Fair City), Pat Kinevane (I, Keano), Mark Doherty, Maire O Neil and Donncha Crowley co-star.

HEADRUSH was most recently voted 'Best Unreleased Feature Film' at the East Lansing Film Festival. Dubliners also rated it 'highly recommended' at an independent test screening held in UGC cinemas.

The film's soundtrack includes three original tunes by the Fun Lovin' Criminals, two from U2 and tracks performed by Republic of Loose and Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club among others.

Produced by Edwina Forkin of Zanzibar and financed by Bord Scannan na hEireann/the Irish Film Board, HEADRUSH is Shimmy Marcus' debut feature film. The film was co-produced by Christine Alderson of Ipso Facto Films, UK and Marc Bary of IJswater Films, Netherlands . Zanzibar is independently distributing HEADRUSH.

Running for 85 minutes, HEADRUSH goes on nationwide release at Dublin 's UGC Cinema, UCI (Tallaght, Blanchardstown and Coolock), Ster Century, Ormonde (Stillorgan) and at The Gate (Cork ), The Eye (Galway), MovieWorld (Mayo) and Gaiety Cinema ( Sligo) on June 24th.
