STRANGER THAN FICTION Documentary Festival & Market Sept. 29th - Oct.1st
The STRANGER THAN FICTION Documentary festival offers an opportunity for audiences to see a wide range of both Irish and international documentaries. The market also facilitates access and exchange between Irish documentary producers and those with international financing and commissioning power. There will be number of panel sessions running throughout the festival which will include the following events:THURSDAY 29TH SEPT. 10.00-10.50: MEET THE INTERNATIONAL BROADCASTERS
This session provides producers with an opportunity to meet with and pitch potential projects to leading Commissioning Editors from the international broadcasters.
Participants include: Nicolas Deschamps (Specialist Factual Department ARTE France), Marijke Rawie (AVRO), Maxine Watson (Factual Commissioning BBC), Richard Melman (The History Channel and The Biography Channel), Mark Atkin (SBS), Cenwyn Edwards (S4C), Paul Crompton (Popular Factual Sky 1) and Alberta Nokes (Vision TV, Canada).
THURSDAY 29TH SEPT. 11.00 - 11.40am: MEET THE SALES AGENTS
This session provides producers with opportunity to meet with international Sales Agents who will make brief presentations to Irish producers on their company, followed by questions and answers from the audience.
The panel will include Munia Kanna & Yvonne Body (Beyond Distribution), Christina Willoughby (Channel 4 International), Carl Simons (High Point Films), Andrew Fitzpatrick (Monster Distributes) and Derry O’Brien (Network Ireland)
THURSDAY 29TH SEPT. 4.30-5.30: DOCUMENTING THE ARTS
This panel will discuss the new BSÉ/IFB and Arts Council funded programme Documenting the Arts with key decision makers from BSÉ/IFB, the Arts Council and Film Base sitting on the panel.
