Jan 21st: Irish Film Board Announcement

Bord Scannán na hÉireann / the Irish Film Board today announced that it would no longer be funding multi-part television series. However, the Board did confirm that series currently in development or that had already applied, would not be affected by this announcement.

Rod Stoneman, CEO, explained the reasons behind the decision, "With the successful launch of the low budget initiative coupled with increasing pressures on our budget, it is necessary to focus our support on our core activities. We therefore will not be funding television series but will maintain our collaboration and partnership with the broadcasting sector through feature films, documentaries, animation, single dramas and our various short film schemes".
