Irish Short Film 'BURNING THE BED' to be Released Theatrically in the UK

Denis McArdle's atmospheric short film BURNING THE BED receives a select U.K. cinema release this month and marks the first Irish short film to receive a U.K. theatrical release since Thaddeus O’Sullivan’s short film “The Woman Who Married Clark Gable” in 1985.

Burning the Bed screens at the infamous Curzon Soho, supporting the French thriller, "The Beat My Heart Skipped" from Friday 4th November. Following the Curzon release, the short receives a select U.K. cinema release supporting the feature film, “Factotum” from Friday 18th November in numerous cinemas around London, York, Oxford, Cambridge, Southampton and Edinburgh.

Directed by Denis McArdle from a script by Patrick Chapman, BURNING THE BED was funded by the Irish Film Board / RTÉ "SHORT CUTS". Having already screened theatrically in Ireland and in over 40 festivals worldwide, the film has scooped three major awards for Best Short film, with much praise given to the lush photography by Tom McDougal. The film produced by Songway & Fantastic Films, with kind support from Buena Vista Pictures, marks the first Irish short film to receive a UK release in over 20 years.

Gina McKee (NOTTING HILL, WONDERLAND, THE FORSYTE SAGA), and Aidan Gillen (QUEER AS FOLK, THE WIRE) feature in BURNING THE BED, an atmospheric drama about a couple separating in the west of Ireland. Although still strongly connected, they decide to burn their bed in a cathartic and ritual-like fashion.
