MAJOR FESTIVAL AWARDS FOR IRISH FILM
Irish film ISOLATION, directed by Bill O'Brien, has scooped two major awards at the Gerardmer Fantasty Film Festival in France over the weekend.The film, which stars John Lynch (LASSIE) and Ruth Negga (BREAKFAST ON PLUTO), was awarded the Grand Prize and the International Critics Prize by the Festival president, the renowned horror director Hideo Nakata (DARK WATER, THE RING 2), who gave huge praise to the film in his final speech.
ISOLATION was produced by Element Films and the Bureau with finance from Bord Scannan na hEireann/the Irish Film Board, Lions Gate, Film Four, Redbus Film Distribution and TV3. The film will be distributed in Ireland later this year.
In other festival news, Ken Wardrop's film UNDRESSING MY MOTHER has picked up a Special Mention at the Sundance Film Festival. The film was selected to screen at Sundance from over 4500 entries and has been honoured in the top five short films at the festival.
