Oscailt Short AN TEANGA RUNDA takes Best Short Film Award at the Belfast Film Festival
AN TEANGA RUNDA, directed by Brian Durnin has scooped the award for Best Short Film at the Belfast Film Festival this weekend. This is the 3rd award for the film which previously picked up the Audience Award and the Gael Linn award at the Cork Film Festival last year.This successful short film has also been selected to screen at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival in New York founded by Robert de Niro. The short film programme at the festival consists of 195 films selected from over 1700 submissions from over 24 countries.
In other good news for Irish film, the documentary film JOHN MCGAHERN - A PRIVATE WORLD has picked up the prize for Best Arts Documentary at the Celtic Film and Television Festival. Directed by Pat Collins this project has also won the best Documentary prize at the Irish Film and Television Awards last year. The film explores the life and work of one of Ireland's leading fiction writers - John McGahern.
A second Oscailt short film CUILIN DUALACH directed by Nora Twomey won the award for Best Animated Short Film at the Celtic Film and Television Festival.
