SUCCESSFUL YEAR FOR IRISH SHORT FILM ROGAIRI

The Irish short film ROGAIRI, directed by Tom Cosgrove has had a very successful year on the International film festival circuit. The short which was commissioned as part of the OSCAILT strand stars Colm O’Maonlaí and Fiona O’Shaughnessy and the most recent festival selection for the film is the 2006 New York City Horror Film Festival.

This comes after news that the film will play at the Miami Short Film Festival which takes place next month. The film has also been selected or the Stan Winston's Screamfest in LA, a festival which aims to give filmmakers and writers in the horror/sci-fi genres a venue to have their work showcased to people in the industry. Last month the film had its Texan premiere at the Fantastic Fest, screening in front of the feature film Beowulf and Grendel.

The film has also collected a number of prizes including the prize for ‘Best Dramatic Film’ at the 2006 Nickel Independent Film Festival in Canada in July. ROGARAI won ‘Best Short Film’ and ‘Best Actress’ for Fiona O’Shaughnessy at The Chicago Horror Film Festival and Best Irish Short Film at the Kerry Film Festival last year. In June ROGARAI screened in front of SCHINDLERS LIST at the Temple Bar Diversions Festival.

Irish writer / director Tom Cosgrove is currently working on the screenplay THE SEA DEVILS which was one of the finalists in Francis Ford Coppola’s prestigious Zoetrope screenwriting awards in the United States and has received Development Funding from the Irish Film Board.
