Irish Film THE FRONT LINE Selected for major International Festivals
David Gleeson’s film THE FRONT LINE, will make its international debut on the festival circuit at the major Pusan International Film Festival in South Korea in October.The Pusan Film festival is the largest and most important in Asia and the market is very well attended by international industry professionals. THE FRONT LINE is the only Irish film selected for this festival, which runs from October 12th - 20th.
THE FRONT LINE will make its US debut shortly after Pusan at the Hamptons International Film Festival which focuses on showcasing US and International independent cinema. The Irish film will be in good company as previous selections include the 2003 Oscar-winning German film Nowhere in Africa, and award winning Danish film Italian for Beginners.
THE FRONT LINE was favourably received by critics when it was released in Irish cinemas at the end of the Summer. Described as a “terrific film .. with convincing performances and visually strong production values*” the film tells the story of an African immigrant bank security guard who turns the tables on Dublin's nastiest criminals when they force him to be the "inside man" on a bank robbery. Eriq Ebouaney (Kingdom of Heaven), James Frain (24) and Gerard McSorley (Omagh) give compelling performances in the lead roles
THE FRONT LNE is the second film from Irish director David Gleeson who previously directed COWBOYS & ANGELS, which picked up a host of international awards in 2004 including Best Film at the Giffoni Film Festival.
THE FRONT LNE was produced by Wide Eye Films with funding from Board Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, RTE, the Hamburg Film Fund, Film I Vast, Sandrew Metrodome and Scion Films. International Sales are being handled by High Point Films.
