Nominees Announced for the Irish Film Board/NIFTC sponsored Breakthrough Talent Award

The 4th Annual Irish Film & Television Awards are delighted to announce the six nominees for the “Irish Film Board/Northern Irish Film and Television Commission Breakthrough Talent Award”. Six exceptionally talented people will compete for the title.

This year’s nominees are:

    Padraic Delaney (actor) - The Wind That Shakes the Barley Orla Fitzgerald (actor) - The Wind That Shakes the Barley Domhnall Gleeson (actor) - Studs Niall Heery (writer/director) - Small Engine Repair Brian Kirk (director) - Middletown Lucy Kennedy(TV Presenter) - The Podge and Rodge Show

Aine Moriarty, CEO of the Irish Film & Television Academy, welcomes the continuing support of the Irish Film Board and Northern Ireland Film & Television Commission: “this sponsorship of the Breakthrough Talent Award reflects the way in which both funding bodies have shown commitment to new Irish talent in recent years.”

Brian Kirk (Director, Middletown) “Making your first feature film is an intense and unique experience and to have Middletown so widely recognised by the IFTAs is no small thing. Of course it is great to be individually nominated but the fact that my co-collaborators have also been nominated means I can enjoy it even more.”

The ceremony will be broadcast on RTÉ One on 10th February 2007 at 9.30pm.
