Irish Films selling at the Berlin Film Festival
David Gleeson's Irish thriller The Front Line, released in Irish cinemas last year, has sparked a number of deals for High Point Films, which sold the movie to Film Entertainment Group in Benelux after a bidding war involving four distributors at the Berlin Film Festival.It has also been picked up by Alberto Bitelli Films in Brazil and Falcon in the Middle East and has prospective sales in France and Germany.
Other Irish films at the Berlin Film Festival in the Berlinale market include Paddy Breathnach's Shrooms which is being handled by Capitol Films, John Carney's award winning film Once which has just been sold to Fox Searchlight by Summit Entertainment; Niall Heery's film Small Engine Repair andThe Tiger's Tail directed by John Boorman - both being sold by Moviehouse Entertainment; and finally Summer of the Flying Saucer directed by Martin Duffy.
